TWD- Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Chocolate Chipsters

What a fun Tuesdays with Dorie- I love cookies! They are the first things I ever really baked and probably still my favorite (aside from a good french tart!) My husband loves oatmeal cookies and eats peanut butter out of the jar so he was pumped about this recipe until he realized there was chocolate chips included. Since he can't have chocolate, I subbed in Reese's Peanut Butter chips for half of the dough. In the other half, I included mini chocolate chips and mini Reese's Peanut Butter cups. Wow! They were yummy... and even the non-chocolaty version was tasty. I did omit the spices since I was primarily making these for my mom and she doesn't like them in cookies.

All in all, these had great reviews from all of my tasters and were a fun, simple cookie to make. Another winner by Dorie. What can I say, I love this cook book! Thanks for the great choice Stefany (you can see the recipe on her blog)!

  2. All your versions look delicious - I thought the spices were too much when the cookies were still warm, but they seemed to almost disappear once they were cool.

  3. I'm just like your husband when it comes to eating pb from a jar so I was so really excited about this recipe. I absolutely love your reese's pb cup addition, but I never buy them or else I probably would've eaten the whole batch.

You should definitely try the spices next time. I added half the amount of cinnamon and it was perfect.

  4. peanut butter chips - that's a good idea, since the cookies don't have much of a peanut butter flavor otherwise. i'll have to write that in my cookbook as an option!

  7. Oh, I think you totally made the right call leaving out the spices. The spices/peanut butter combo was the downfall of the cookie to me. I absolutely love your Reeses Cup idea. Next time, I'm making them your way. Great job! And great pix, as always!

  10. Reese chips?? GENIUS! I could barely taste the PB in the cookie and the reese chips sounds like just the PB boost this cookie needed. Great job!

  12. Yum! They look great. I'm not a big fan of having cinnamon in my chocolate either.

  13. I've also got a husband who can't do chocolate and I do try to accommodate him when I can. I did two variations also - my non-chocolate had dried fruit and I liked it a lot. Beautiful cookies!

  24. I agree with cb's comment that the peanut butter was understated. The addition of the Reese's is definitely something I would try!

  35. Yummies! I live in a house where peanut butter is head above all else too... so I often make a pb batter and then add pb chips to the cookies. Hmm... maybe I should make some this weekend.
