TWD- Chocolate Malted Whopper Drops (Whopper Cookies!)

Cookies are the first thing I remember baking and are probably still my favorite. I'm hard pressed to find something I'd rather do on Sunday afternoon than bake with my family and take treats to our neighbors. So, I ended up doing just that this weekend. These Whopper cookies came together in no time and the one bowl mess (yay!) was all cleaned up before nap time was over. I packaged up the cookies, loaded my son into the car, and we had fun delivering them. I even managed to get them out of the house soon enough that I only ate one. Whew. TWD is killer on the skinny jeans sometimes!

I used plain malted milk powder instead of chocolate so I opted to include all of the bittersweet chocolate (I'd heard they were too chocolately and then that there was no such thing so I compromised!) I loved the texture of these cookies and everyone loved them. I'm still a die hard chocolate chip cookie fan, but these would be awesome with a glass of milk and a good book. Or a good cook book if you're at all like me. For the recipe, stop by Rachel's blog. You won't regret it!

I'd also like to thank the DeL Sisters for this blog award. You guys seriously make me wish I had a sister to cook with! Keep it up!

  5. Thank goodness for one bowl cookies, right? I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized I wouldn't have to melt chocolate in a double boiler, whisk together dry ingredients separately from wet, etc. Lucky friends, btw.

  12. Oh, Anne, you've outdone yourself again with your picture and your beautiful packaging! You have very lucky neighbors. I am so with you on the whole "TWD wreaks havoc on the skinny jeans" situation. I had decided to take up baking and running at the same time, and while baking has taken off, the running keeps falling victim to my snooze button. Maybe tomorrow. Gorgeous cookies!

  13. great gift wrapping!
I hear you on the jeans--and the fact that I started TWD right when Fall is hitting won't help either because I won't be worried about bathing suit season!
Sigh...I guess that stationary bike will have to do more than hold hangers of drying laundry...

  25. I'm with you on getting rid of the goods before they take up permanent residence (on my waist, for example). I still think of that banded torte - I gave it away and only had one thin slice. Boy was that thing GOOD.
