LaNell's Broccoli Salad

{printable recipe here}
This is one of our all time favorite side dishes. Whenever there's a party, people always ask my mom to bring this. It's one of her signature dishes for a reason! I don't like raw broccoli really except for in this salad. Cut nice and small, the texture and flavor is perfect. Bacon, Red Onion, Raisins, and Sun flower seeds give tons of crunch and variety, but they still work together. The creamy dressing is best added just before serving so it doesn't get soggy.

Broccoli Salad
{printable recipe here}
from LaNell (my mom!)
4 - 6 cups chopped broccoli flowerets
¼ cup diced red onion
½ cup toasted sunflower seeds (walnuts work, too)
1/3 cup raisins
8 strips cooked bacon (crumbled)

1 cup mayonnaise
½ cup sugar
1 ½ T. apple cider vinegar (red wine works, too)

After making dressing, toss on salad and combine. Serve immediately.

  1. I'm glad you posted this. I love this salad almost as much as I love your Mom.

  2. As soon as I can eat broccoli again I am so trying this. I've never had broccoli salad~

  3. This is the best salad ever! I love this.
    We usually only break it out for holidays, not sure why- it's so good year round.

  4. One of my former roommates used to make this salad. It was good and I'll have to make it sometime. Most of my boys like broccoli, too!

  5. My sister makes this frequently, but I have not. It sounds great, though. Will have to give it a go! Hope your hand continues to heal.

  6. My Mom makes this salad whenever we have a get-together... it's my favorite! I could seriously eat the whole bowl!!!

  7. I love broccoli salad! I made this today to go with dinner and it was delicious. Tasted just like the kind from the store. I used craisins instead of raisins and it was great. Thanks for the recipe!
