Everyone has their own fears. I, for one, am terrified of birds. And oatmeal. I've been trying to over come the texture and enjoy this healthy breakfast fare but it's hard for me. My son, on the other hand, runs screaming when I pull out the blender. Well, I decided it was time to get past that. in the course of all my cooking I need to use it occasionally and it just wasn't working out. So, with this fun giveaway from MyBlogSpark in mind, I set out to make a yogurt smoothie that would change his mind. And I succeeded.
Even my brother was swayed, and he normally likes the heavily ice creamed smoothies. So try it out. And to enter the contest for this awesome bag, water bottle note pad, and free yogurt, leave me a comment with your favorite healthy breakfast food. I'm really trying to overcome my oatmeal fear and move beyond my insatiable craving for Frosted Flakes.
I'll close this contest on Saturday at midnight Arizona time. They'll be three winners so don't be shy!

My favorite is cottage cheese with peaches. Yummy.ReplyDelete
I love yogurt with fruit(usually banana or strawberry) and granola.ReplyDelete
My new favorite is a grapefruit and a yogurt!ReplyDelete
my absolute fav healthy breakfast food is an egg white omelet with spinach, sundried tomatoes and mushrooms topped with a ripe avocado. good enough to get me up in the morning!ReplyDelete
Yogurt and grapenuts for a crunch.ReplyDelete
I'm eating a yogurt, even as I read this post.ReplyDelete
That smoothie looks delicious!! I can't admit to beig too creative with my morning breakfasts: I usually stick to organic, high-fiber cereals. Although, every now and then, I mix things up and do some fruit with yogurt and a nice side of egg whites and spinach!ReplyDelete
When I do the healthy thing for breakfast I usually go with oatmeal or yogurt.....however I hear the heart shaped sugar cookie on the counter calling my name this morning so I think I am going to eat that this A.M. I know....I'm bad! But it will taste so good with my coffee.....mmmmmmm!ReplyDelete
I like to make omelettes with 1 egg 2 egg whites chopped turkey bacon or sausage and low fat cheese and have a slice of whole wheat toast on the sideReplyDelete
If I'm in a hurry or it's really cold I'll make oatmeal with some vanilla bean paste for added flavor and the lil flecks of vanilla bean seeds are really pretty too!
My favorite is to eat a big bowl of oatmeal squares cereal, or I will eat two wasa crackers with natural peanut butter.ReplyDelete
Lately it's eggbeaters on a light english muffin with turkey bacon and fat free cheese.ReplyDelete
I also love a good smoothie. Yoplait has these frozen packets that you just throw in the blender and add milk. Pretty tasty.
Ha! We make protein shakes every morning... frozen strawberries,1% milk and soy protein, couldn't do it without our blender!ReplyDelete
Oatmeal can be pretty scary- just don't buy the microwave packets... TOTALLY different texture. If you get the traditional cook stuff - it's kinda nutty and good.
The smoothies sound delish! My favorite healthy breakfast is fresh berries with yogurt and a sprinkle of granola!ReplyDelete
My healthy breakfast is oatmeal and orange juice and a bananaReplyDelete
Well, I'm a sucker for those sugary cereals. Yum! But I do like to be healthy sometimes. My favorite is first a grapefruit halve, then an english muffin with egg, cheese, and bacon (or ham).ReplyDelete
I just found your blog through someone's and I'm loving it. Keep it up. Food blogs are a new addiction of mine. :)
Can't we just have fresh fruit and skip to left overs at about 10:00! If not let's have hearty multigrain toast with hot chocolate.ReplyDelete
Ya, ya, I know I'm no help....
My favorite is a tablespoon of granola and a fruity yogurt. Yum!ReplyDelete
I love granola. When short on time I choose Fiber One Chocolate barsReplyDelete
I have discovered that I really like cooked old fashioned oatmeal!!! Also a grapefruit with yogurt is always good too.ReplyDelete
Fresh fruit & yogurt topped with homemade granola. Granola is the only way to eat oatmeal. The mushy way is just too gross. There's a great recipe for Omega3 Granola (sounds strangely healthy but really tastes awesome) on epicurious.com. I quadruple the recipe and it still only lasts a couple weeks b/c my family loves it so much.ReplyDelete
My favorite are my husband's smoothies: ice, oj, banana, apple, peach slices, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, oatmeal, and protein. He's been making these every morning for a few years. We've gone through as many blenders as the years we've been married!ReplyDelete
Believe it or not, you can't taste the oatmeal and I think it gives the smoothie a nice texture.
My favorite healthy breakfast needs lots of protein to keep me satisfied. My blog has a recipe for yummy mini quiche that are great for a quick breakfast! Thanks for the giveaway!ReplyDelete
Okay, this does not sound like the best but it is so delicous and nutritious...put in blender: 1 1/2 cups of pineapple juice, 3 handfuls of fresh spinach, one banana...this is the basic recipe and is yummy by itself, but I add yogurt, frozen or fresh blueberries, or any kind of fruit for that matter and you will be surprised how delicious this is and you can't even taste the spinach...also you can use any kind of juice. This makes enough for two people.ReplyDelete
I love making homemade carrot muffins with honey (instead of sugar) and applesauce (instead of oil). It keeps me going all day!ReplyDelete
My favorite healthy breakfast is Trader Joe's Honey, Almond and Flax 9 Whole Grain cereal with a half a cup of milk. Yummy!ReplyDelete
Oatmeal is big around our house. I make real oatmeal and then add fruit to it. Also, my husband loves it when I mix in peanut butter, then top it with jelly or honey. He can't get enough of. Cottage cheese with fruit is good too.ReplyDelete
But then again, so are Frosted Flakes!
papaya with cottage cheese!!ReplyDelete
Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. We smoothies and that's the only thing that AC will eat, Abby loves them too. We also make the drink that Diane mentioned occasionallyReplyDelete
So fun! We have this awesome NUTTY PANCAKES recipe. They taste so whole grain and YUMMY!!!! Or, we add nine grain into our oatmeal to make it less mushy. It gives it a better texture. We've also started cooking eggs in the middle of a piece of bread with a hole cut out. Yummmmm!!! Even Claire loves all of these things!ReplyDelete
I do not have a fear of oatmeal...I eat it almost every morning with cinnamon, milk and honey. So minus the cinnamon it is really good for you and I enjoy it. But my favorite breakfast would be a cup of orange juice with orange french toast! I will have to try your smoothie recipe...I have been craving smoothies lately! I almost stopped to get a jamba today!ReplyDelete
Some people put oatmeal in their smoothies! NOt a bad idea. My favorite healthy breakfast is homemade German pancakes with a topping of strawberries, sour cream and brown sugar.ReplyDelete
Whoops, Kendra's signed in as Jenny. :)ReplyDelete
My friend Eliane's favorite is a smoothie sort of like yours but with an oatmeal twist. Orange juice, yogurt, banana, and 1/2 c oatmeal! My favorite breakfast is Dutch babies or as some call them, German pancakes topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream.ReplyDelete
Cinnamon oatmeal with a teaspoon of Dark Chocolate Peanut ButterReplyDelete
Yummy, I want one right now!ReplyDelete
it sounds like i missed the contest! i didnt know it was over already! but if not, i will still post about my favorite breakfast. i love breakfast! i love to make these bran muffins with homeade jam/jelly and eat them with eggs and/or yogurt with homeade granola mixed in and pineapple orange juice! yummy!ReplyDelete
Lately we've been on a migas for breakfast kick.ReplyDelete
Fry corn tortillas in oil and cut into pieces. Whip up some eggs and half and half with a whisk and set aside. Cut onions, peppers, and jalepeno, add garlic if you wish, and fry in olive oil and butter. Add tomatoes. Then add eggs. Cook for a minute then add tortillas. Add cheese and cilantro.
These are healthy, right?
They have to be healthier than some McDonald's breakfast, right?
